Iran and Malaysia will be willing to cooperate and exploit Iran’s scientific capabilities in various aspects of agriculture, including rice cultivation, tropical garden crops, fisheries and chicken breeding.
Dr. Mojtaba Khayam Nekui during the visit of the Malaysian agricultural delegation to the research institutes of the agricultural sector and the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Iran’s Agricultural Research, Education and Promotion Organization (TAT) and the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute on behalf of the ministries of agriculture of the two countries in order to develop long-term cooperation in rice research, he added:
“Researchers of the TAT organization are ready to evaluate salinity-tolerant lines in Malaysia.” The Deputy Minister of Agricultural Jihad counted the average rice consumption of Malaysians as about 3 times that of Iranians and stated:
“Regarding rice, we are ready to start joint work for evaluating salinity-tolerant lines.”
He stated that the relations between Iran and Malaysia are expected to expand in various aspects of agriculture, especially in the fields of education, research and agricultural promotion, and noted:
“In the field of research on aquatic waste and the production of insecticides using medicinal plant extracts, we are ready to enter for joint research.”
Launching a joint production line for aquatic vaccines in Malaysia
According to IRNA’s report, from the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture, Khayyam Nekui announced the possibility of starting a joint production line for aquatic vaccines in Malaysia and added:
“The TAT organization is also ready to cooperate with Malaysia in the field of livestock production research activities”
He clarified: “We are ready to cooperate in the field of Razi Institute for joint production of Newcastle recombinant vaccine seed, joint production of super acute influenza vaccine seed, Gambro recombinant seed and Arian chicken germplasm.”
The head of the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization said: “We also have the necessary preparation for the exchange of germplasm based on international laws regarding tropical fruits.”
He added: “With five thousand and 700 kilometers of water beaches in Iran, we will have a good potential for the exploitation and development of fishery products between the two countries.”
Khayyam Nekui called the TAT organization the largest agricultural research organization in the Middle East and added: “This organization operates with 21 institutes, 34 provincial centers and 314 research stations across the country and has more than 1,800 academic staff members.”
Malaysia uses the capacity of Iran’s agricultural sector
Sebu, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia, also said on the sidelines of his visit to the research institutes of the TAT organization:
“Iran has performed well in the agricultural sector and what we saw today from the facilities of the Agricultural Research and scientific capabilities , Education and Promotion Organization will provide the basis for joint cooperation between the two countries and the development of agricultural communication.”
He said that these cooperations will lead to good progress in the agricultural sector of Iran and Malaysia.
“These collaborations create new and fruitful opportunities for the progress of the parties.”
He pointed out that in order to develop these cooperations, the Prime Minister of Malaysia will visit Iran during the holy month of Ramadan.
“Iran is one of the largest producing capacities in dairy, agricultural and urea .” The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia expressed his hope that his country will be able to use this scientific capabilities of Iran and added:
“Until recent years, Malaysia imported urea from Russia and Ukraine, but after the war between these two countries, urea enters Malaysia at a very high price, and we hope to use Iran’s capacity to produce urea and its derivatives.”
He added: “Also, Malaysia is ready to cooperate seriously with Iran in the field of Arian chicken production, modified pineapple and rice cultivation.” Cebu noted:
“Iranians are the descendants of great scientists like Kharazmi and Razi who are now continuing their path in producing new technologies.”
According to this report, the expansion of friendship and cooperation in order to provide the organizational and national resources of the parties, cooperation in the field of investment development and realization of joint research cooperation, development of cooperation in the implementation of joint research and executive exchange projects were among the things that an agreement was signed between the two countries.
